~ While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about. ~ Angela Schwindt.
“Eat your vegetables,” “Finish your milk,” “Clean your room,” “Brush your teeth,” Do your homework.” We as parents are always trying to teach our children certain things about life.
But are we really teaching them enough? By this I mean are we teaching them the morals that they really need as they grow up into adults into this world we live in? And what exactly are we teaching them?
Our children are learning more than we realize. They learn what they hear & see.
Do you ever use bad language? Do you use it around your children? (Even if they are teenagers) How about lie- do you ever lie? Even a small “white lie?” Remember little (and big) ears hear everything.
Someone I know (a fellow Christian) lies every now and then. They do this in front of their children. Now, what kind of lesson do you think they are teaching the children? And why does this person get upset when one of their children tells a lie?
I read a very cool article recently. Here is a quote from the article:
“A lie can be hidden only for a time, but as the seasons change, the lie will grow…(just like a baby tree sapling). In time it will become so large that everyone will notice it. It’s better to plant the truth. When it grows, you can be proud when everyone notices it.”
We need to be teaching our children life lessons that they can look back at and know that they have taken root in their very souls.
